To proceed: As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, The Recommended Acts of Wudoo From the recommended aspects ( sunan ) of wudoo, that occur before Wudoo is: What has been reported by Abu Hurairah ( radyAllaahu 'anhu ) from Allaah's Messenger ( sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam ) that he said: "If it were not that I feared to cause hardship on my ummah, I would have commanded them to (use) the Siwaak with every wudoo." [Reported by Maalik, Ahmad and An-Nasaa'ee, and its chain of narration is authentic] It is also recommended for a Muslim to perform wudoo with a mudd of water. This is based on what Anas ( radyAllaahu 'anhu ) reported that: "Allaah's Messenger ( sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam ) would perform wudoo with a mudd of water an

Narrations of the Salaf about Sincerity, Showing off and the Love of Fame

Image
Narrations of the Salaf about Sincerity, Showing off and the Love of Fame Ayoob As-Sakhtayaani used to pray the night prayer, and he would conceal this. If morning arrived, he would raise his voice as if he only awoke at that hour. (Sifatus Safwah: 3/492) Abdus Samad ibn Abdil Waarith said: Hawshab would cry and say: My name has reached the Masjid Al-Jaami'. It is reported upon Abul Aliyah that if more than three people were to gather and sit around him, he would get up. (At-Tawaadu':47) It is reported upon Bishr ibn Al-Haarith that he said: Oh Allaah. If you have made me famous to expose me on the day of judgement, then strip it away from me. (Az-Zuhd by Al-Bayhaqi: 147) Al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyaad said: No one loves leadership except that they are envious, transgress, search for the faults of the people and hate that anyone be mentioned with good. (Jaami' Bayaan Al-'ilm: 1/652) Abdullaah ibn Al-Mubaarak said: Sufyaan Ath-Thawri said to me: Beware of fame. Everyone I met

“Shaikh Muqbil about Sleeping through the Fajr Prayer”

Image
Source: Ijaabatus-Saa'il, pp. 40-41 Translated by Aqeel Walker Question : The person who prays all of the obligatory prayers but he delays the Fajr prayer, are the (other) prayers that he prays consider correct (i.e. acceptable)? And what do you advise him? Answer : If he does not pray the Fajr prayer at all, then he is considered a disbeliever (Kaafir), and if he delays it (the Fajr prayer), then he is considered a disobedient sinner. It has been reported in the Saheeh of Al-Bukhaaree that it was said, "O Messenger of Allaah, so-and-so slept until morning came." So the Prophet (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "That is a man whom the Shaytaan has urined in his ears." It has also been reported in the Saheeh of Al-Bukhaaree that the Prophet (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "The Shaytaan comes to one of you and he ties a knot at the back of his head, tying three knots. And he (the Shaytaan) says into every knot, 'Sleep, you have a lo

A Reminder for our Believing Women

Image
A Reminder for our Believing Women - By Aboo Zaynab Tawfeeq Ibn Hosley Overview : This is a lecture that should put the heart of every woman at ease. Though the life of a woman in Islaam may seem difficult to some who have no knowledge, or insight, Allaah Has promised Paradise for His righteous servants. ------------------ The brother starts the sermon with - Khutbatul-Haajah - Today's Khutbah is a reminder for myself and everyone else who is sitting here and all those who may hear about this khutbah and i.e. the prohibition of Ikhtilaaq - of freely mixing between male and female. Al Islaam has placed before us the ways to reduce the temptations of the fitnah of Nisaah and that is this ikhtilaaq (is freely mixing between a man and a woman) --- a woman mixing with a man who does not have a mahram and this is prohibited in Islaam. This is the ways that destroys the society and this is the reason why we are going to speak about this today because it is the women who build the societ

On the Way to Attend Study-Sessions

Image
On the Way to Attend Study-Sessions Imaam Ibn Hazm From "Al-Akhlaq wa’l Siyar" Translator is unknown------------------------------------------------------- 333. If you attend a study-session, behave only like someone who wishes to increase his knowledge and to win greater recompense from Allaah. Do not behave like someone who is content with what he has, who is looking for some fault to criticise or a curious detail to hawk around. This would be the behaviour of vile men who never succeed in their studies. If you come to it with good intentions, you will always obtain the best results. Otherwise, to stay at home would be less tiring for your body, more worthy of your moral conduct and more salutary for your religious life. 334. If you do attend under the conditions that we have indicated, take care to adopt one of these three attitudes and there cannot be a fourth: [First,] you may keep quiet in the silence of ignorance. Thus you will obtain the reward of your intention in at

Why our Du'as are not answered ?

Image
Why our Du'as are not answered ? by ibn Rajab al Hanbalifrom Khushu' fis-salah Ibrahim ibn Adham - may Allah have mercy on him - a third century scholar, a teacher and a companion of Sufyan ath-Thawri, was asked about the saying of Allah - the Most High: "and your Lord says: "Call on me I will answer your prayer..." [al Qur'an 40:60] "We supplicate and we are not answered." So he said to them: You know Allah, Yet you do not obey Him, You recite the Qur'an, Yet do not act according to it, You know Shaitan, Yet you have agreed with him, You proclaim that you love Muhammad Yet you abandon his Sunnah, You proclaim your love for Paradise, Yet you do not act to gain it, You proclaim your fear the Fire, Yet you do not prevent yourselves from sins, You say "Indeed death is true", Yet you have not prepared for it, You point out the faults with others, Yet you do not look at your faults, You eat of that which Allah has provided for you, Yet you

The Importance of Remaining Silent- Part 1

Image
It is a fact that an individual who talks a lot compels others to talk. He/She not only wastes his/her time but the time of others too. Quite often such a person regrets again and again faces a lot of problems. Nabi (sal) said" The one who remains silent achieves peace" in another "To remain silent is better than praying for 60yrs. Those who like to gossip a lot, make scandels, make an issue out of nothing and those who sometimes like getting involved in unnecessary talk read the following.... There are 4 reasons to avoid gossiping: All unnecessary talk is taken into account by Kiraaman Katibeen(recording angels) therfore a person must feel ashamed and not to disturb the angels by making them write any thing unnecessary. It is not good that when an individuals account( deeds performed by him in this world) is presented before Allah it be full of unnecessary talk. Every individual will be asked to read out the account of his deeds, in front of all the creations of Allah o

Durood-E-Ebrahim

One who recites 100 times on Fridays shall come on the day of resurrection (Kiyamat) with a very great amount of lustre. Besides these, there are also other innumerable blessings of Durood. " O' Allah bless Muhummad and the followers of Muhammad, as Thou didst bless Abraham and the followers of Abraham, for surely Thou art Praised and Magnified. Essay on the Jinn - Demonic Visions by Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah

Image
Those involved in incantations and oaths often swear by some devils to help them against others. Sometimes the evil JINN fulfil their request but frequently they do not, especially when the JINN against whom help is sought is honored among them. Neither the one chanting incantations nor his incantations have any power to force the devils to help them. The reciter of incantations earnestly entreats a being whom he considered great - which may or may not be the case - to harm others who may conceivably be greater. In the case where someone entreats the JINN to harm someone whom the JINN hold in high esteem, they will ignore him. In fact, it may prevent them from even responding at all. Their situations is quite similar to that of humans except that human beings are generally more intelligent, truthful, just and trustworthy while the JINN tend to be ignorant, untruthful, oppressive and treacherous. Can a person be a disbeliever despite his saying laa ilaaha ill Allaah?

Image
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Indeed all praise is for Allah and may peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, his companions and all those who follow upon his way until theLast Day. To proceed. As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, Question: Can a person commit kufr (disbelief) whilst upon his tongue is laa ilaaha ill Allaah (none has the right to be worshipped in Truth except Allaah)? Answer: A person can indeed become a disbeliever in front of Allaah whilst he says la ilaaha ill Allaah. And this is just like the hypocrite who said la ilaaha ill Allaah with his tongue and he did not believe with his heart, such as Abdullaah ibn Abee Sulool and the like of him. And with Allaah is the tawfeeq. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

Celebrating Christmas and New Year

Image
Ruling on Christmas & New Year -------------------- What is the ruling on celebrating Christmas & New Year? Praise be to Allaah Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his commentary on the aayah (interpretation of the meaning), "And those who do not witness falsehood [al-zoor]…" [al-Furqaan 25:72]:As regards the festivals of the mushrikeen: they combine confusion, physical desires and falsehood, there is nothing in them that is of any religious benefit, and the instant gratification involved in them only ends up in pain. Thus they are falsehood, and witnessing them means attending them. This aaayah itself praises and commends (those who do not witness falsehood), which has the meaning of urging people to avoid taking part in their festivals and other kinds of falsehood. We understand that it is bad to attend their festivals because they are called al-zoor (falsehood). It indicates that it is haraam to do this for many reasons, because Al

Responding to Merry Christmas by Shaykh Uthaymeen

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Indeed all praise is for Allah and may peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, his companions and all those who follow upon his way until theLast Day. To proceed. As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, Question: What is the ruling on congratulating the disbelievers on their Christmas celebration? And how do we respond to them if they greet us with it. And is it permissible to go to the places where they are having celebrations for that purpose. And does the person (Muslim) take a sin if he does the aforementioned without any intent? Rather he only does it being courteous, or due to shyness or due to being put in an awkward situation, or due to some other reasons. And is it permissible to resemble them in this? Answer: Congratulating the disbelievers on their Christmas celebration or other than that from their religious holidays is not permissible according to the consensus. As was related by Imaam Ibn Al Qayyim, may Allaah have m

The importance of knowing that there are only 3 days in a week not 7

Image
As'salaamu alaykum this was forwarded to me from another group insha Allaah it will benefit you as much or more than it has benefited me. Makkah Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem The Importance of Knowing That There Are Only Three Days in a Week Not Seven By Shaykh 'Abdullaah Al Bukhaaree After praising Allaah and sending peace and blessings upon the Prophet, the Shaykh ( hafithahullaah ) made du'aa that Allaah gives us the baarakaat in our time period, our actions and the places that we are in. Our life span, if it is spent in the disobedience of Allaah ( Subhaanahu Wa Ta'aalaa ) then it is useless and upon us is that which is not good. If our life is long and is in obedience to Allaah, then it is that which is good upon good. So, in these times and in these blessed days and nights and that which you came for (the season of Hajj), there are things that every Muslim should remember and ponder upon in order to make them beneficial. Before I (the Shaykh) begin to speak about

If the dead were asked the reason for their death, they would've answered, "OverEating"

Image
As'salaamu alaykum Insha Allaah this serves as a reminder to myself as well as others to be mindful of our eating habits. Commentary of Hadeeth #47 By Imaam Ibn Rajab Al Miqdaad ibn Ma'dy Karib ( radhiyallaahu 'anhu) narrated: "I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) saying: "The son of Aadam never filled a vessel more vicious than his stomach. It is sufficient for a son of Aadam to eat enough food to provide for his essential needs. If it is inevitable to eat more than that, he shall fill one third (of his stomach) with food, one third with drink, and leave one third (empty) for breathing (comfortably)." {At Tirmidhee Kitaabuz Zuhd #2380} He labeled it as "good and authentic." It was also recorded by Al Mubaarak in Kitaabuz Zuhd #603, by Al Bayhaaqi in his Shu'ab al Eemaan #5648, 5650 and by At Tabaraani 20/274. The Importance of this Hadeeth This hadeeth is a basis of three principles medicine. It is narrated that w

Guidance for the Muslim Wife- Part 3

Image
Rasulullah(sal) said: The woman who applies perfume and passes by men is an adulteress. Today the woman who applies perfume and goes to the shopping centres, alleys and cinema should ponder how grave a sin she is committing. Rasulullah(sal) said:" Once I saw a ghair mahram(strange) man and woman together in a place. Consequently I had strong fear that shaitaan will make use of this opportunity i.e. he will besmirch their character and destroy the honour of the woman. Rasulullah(sal) said:" Keep yourselves away from strange women. One companion asked:" O Rasul of Allah, tell me can the husbands mix freely with his sister-in-law." Rasulullah(sal) replied:" He is like death for a woman." i.e just partaking of poison leads to death in this world, similarly the brother-in-law's mixing with a woman is poison for their character and a cause of destruction of the life of hereafter. Rasulullah(sal) said:"It is haraam for the woman of my Ummath to take bat
