Overcoming a Broken Heart

Image
Overcoming a Broken Heart Step 1: Accepting Allah's Qadr This has got to be one of the toughest tests of qadr. Love muddles your mind and when all you see are the good characteristics of someone it is difficult to see why it is not working out, especially if this is your first real love. How can this brother who is practicing his deen, has a nice beard, soft and caring be wrong for me? How can this sister who is attractive, fun and religious not be my perfect partner? The key concept to remember here is: you do not know someone until you have lived with them for a substantial time. Even that person does not know what they are like and how they will react in certain situations. Just because you have these elated feelings of love does not necessarily mean this is the right person. Marriage is a struggle and people develop themselves and change with the experience. Only Allah knows your compatibility, only Allah knows what situations you will face and yo...

Fasting during pregnancy

Is fasting safe for my baby? There's no clear answer. Despite research, we can't be sure that fasting is safe for you and your baby. However, fasting in pregnancy appears to be safer for you and your baby if you feel strong and well enough, and if your pregnancy is going well. If you don't feel well enough to fast, or are worried about your health or your baby's wellbeing, Islamic law gives you clear permission not to fast. Talk to your GP or midwife and get a general health check before deciding to fast. One factor is when the fast takes place. If Ramadan coincides with summer, this means hot weather and long days, which puts you at greater risk of dehydration. What do studies into fasting in pregnancy show? Some studies show little or no effect on newborn babies whose mums fasted in pregnancy. Others suggest health problems later in life, or that fasting in pregnancy may have some effect on the intelligence or academic ability of a child. H...

The Promise At Zam Zam

The well of Zamzam, which disappeared when the Arabs placed idols at the Ka'bah, remained buried under the sand. Thus, for many years the people of Quraysh had to fetch their water from far away. One day 'Abd al-Muttalib was very tired from doing this and fell asleep next to the Ka’bah. He had a dream in which he was told to dig up Zamzam. When he woke up he was puzzled because he did not know what Zamzam was, the well having disappeared many years before he was born. The next day he had the same dream, but this time he was told where to find the well. 'Abd al-Muttalib had one son at that time, and together they began to dig. The work was so difficult that ‘Abd al-Muttalib made an oath to Allah that if one day he were to have ten sons to help him and stand by him, in return he would sacrifice one of them in Allah's honor. After working for three days they finally found the well of Zamzam. Pilgrims have been drinking from it ever since. The year...

Moral Vaccination!

Moral Vaccination! When a family gets a new baby, almost immediately after the congratulations, they take the baby to the doctor to get the vaccine shots. There is a vaccine against measles, against diphtheria, and polio....etc. Why do they do that? Because the vaccine will give the child immunity against those diseases. Someone might ask, since these babies are at home and are not exposed to the infections, why then do they need the vaccination so early. The answer is that it is important to give the  immunity before exposure to infection, so that later on when they are exposed to the infection, they would have acquired the immunity and they would resist that disease. We are not only bodies but we have souls, and morality . There are moral illnesses and they are contagious. So this medical principle of early immunization also applies to the moral state of our souls. We need a  moral vaccination to immunize the souls to be able to resist ...

PURIFYING INTENTIONS

Abu Sufyan said, “I entered Madinah and saw a man with a crowd of people around him. I enquired, ‘Who is this man?’ They said, ‘Abu Hurayrah.’ I came close to him and sat down in front of him as he spoke to the people. When he became silent and the people left, I said, ‘I ask you by Allah, tell me of a hadeeth you heard from the Messenger of Allah ï·º and learnt.’ Abu Hurayrah replied, ‘I will. I will narrate to you a hadeeth I heard from the Messenger of Allah ï·º, which I have understood and learnt.’ Abu Hurayrah took a took a deep gasp, such that he fainted and remained so for a while, then he regained consciousness and said, ‘I will surely narrate to you what the Messenger of Allah ï·º told me. The two of us were in this house and there was none other than us present.’ He then took another deep gasp, such that he fainted and remained so for a while, then he regained consciousness and wiped his face. He then said, ‘I will surely narrate to you a hadeeth I heard from the...

A VERY GOOD STORY OF A CONVERTER TO ISLAM

> Are Young People Bored With Religion? A Greek Man Discovers Islam By Khalid Paschalis I was born in Greece, a country known for being one of the most 'homogenous' Christian countries. Almost 99% of Greek people are Orthodox Christians. My parents were both teachers of the Christian religion in schools, so I grew up in a Christian environment. When I was very young (before 12 years old) my mother always insisted to take me with her to the church every Sunday. My father didn't go there. When I reached puberty I didn't want to go to church. I didn't feel anything special there and I preferred sleeping or watching TV in Sunday mornings. In the subject of the religion education in school I was very bored and didn't pay attention to it. Most students didn't as well. Then I became 16 years old. It was the first time we were taught about the other religions at school. I discovered Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam of course. I noticed that the teacher was n...
