Shield your Tongue if you wish to attain Paradise!

  As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, Bismillaah, wal-hamdulilaah, was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaah, wa ba'd Shield your Tongue if you wish to attain Paradise! I said: O messenger of Allah, tell me an act which will take me into Paradise and will keep me away from the Hell-fire? On the authority of Mu'aadh ibn Jabal (radiyallaahu 'anhu) who said: I said: O messenger of Allah, tell me an act which will take me into Paradise and will keep me away from the Hell-fire. He said: You have ask me about a major matter, yet it is easy for him for whom Allah the Exalted makes it easy. You should worship Allah, associating nothing with Him; you should perform the prayers; you should pay the zakat, you should make the pilgrimage to the House. Then he said: Shall I not show you the gates of goodness? Fasting [which] is a shield; charity extinguis...

Reviving Our Sense of Gheerah

We live in societies in which most men and women have lost their sense of modesty, women are obsessed with their appearances and wear clothes to be seen by others and to attract the attention of other men even if they are married! They have lost their sense of shame. Marriage is often looked upon as old-fashioned and short term affairs and frivolous relationships are the norm, everyone waiting to attract a better partner and feeling totally justified to dump one partner for another at the drop of a hat. Feminism too has reached its peak and men and women are told to suppress their natural emotions. Men are not even embarrassed when their wives are dressed up and attract the attention of other men, they don't mind if another man sees, chats, laughs and even dances with their womenfolk and if they do mind, they are told not to be so possessive! In Islam we have a concept of Gheerah. Gheerah is an Arabic word which means protectiveness or jealousy....

The Registers of Deeds & Seeking Forgiveness

The Registers of Deeds In a hadith narrated by Sayyida Aisha, the Prophet said that all the deeds that we perform are written down in three registers: One register contains the deeds of those who have associated partners with Allah. Allah will not forgive those who commit shirk or polytheism. He forgives all sins except shirk . The second register contains those deeds that Allah will not forgive, unless they have been compensated for. These are the ones between fellow human beings. The third register contains the deeds about our personal duties to Allah. They are the deeds between man and his Creator like Salat and Sawm Allah determines whether they are forgiven or not. The second register of deeds is especially important for us to consider because there is no Divine pardon in cases where personal rights have been violated. Forgiveness can only come from the person concerned - either directly or when Allah makes it possible for that person to grant a pardon. The Prophet...

Interrogation

Interrogation Some Muslims today have gotten into the habit of interrogating their brothers and sisters about matters of faith and law. They ask them questions about the particulars of the Islam creed or some details of various legal ruling, but their intention is not to learn anything. They already know the answers. What they want to do is see if the person they are asking is on the right creed or has adopted the correct position in certain matters of Islamic Law â€" or have the correct "Islamic" attitude about certain issues. A classic example of this is to ask "Where is Allah." Yes, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did once ask a slave girl this question. However, the people who go around with this question on their lips, foisting it on every passer-by, forget that the Prophet...

When will I see you as a Haafidh? { A good eye opener for all of us .....}

When will I see you as a Haafidh? In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful Shaykh Yasir Salamah I recently heard an incredibly amazing account told by Shaykh Yasir Salamah, one of the leading Imams and recitors of Egypt. In his audio tape 'When will I see you as a Haafidh?' he speaks of the true account of Muhammad, a brother who after attending a workshop on memorising Qur'aan and utilising all the available mediums, went on to memorise the entire Qur'aan within just 50 days (i.e 2 months) Within 2 months?! Yes. Within 2 months. This is his account and he says: "I declared a state of Jihad upon my soul and put death before my eyes. I made an intention to memorise the Noble Qur'aan. So I abandoned telephone calls and unnecessary visits, and I changed all the negative thoughts associated with hifdh (memorisation) to positive and practical ones e.g. When a thought came to me saying 'I can't do it!' I'd say, 'I ...

Karbala: The Everlasting Stand

Karbala: The Everlasting Stand Written by AhlulBayt Islamic Mission What you are about to read is a story of a great man whose uprising has no like in the annals of history. A revolution with goals most sublime, a victory most profound and at its core a pronouncement of reform over conquest. The story of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet of Islam, and his 'everlasting stand'. After years of unjust tyrannical rule, the exuberant torch of Islam had turned into a feint glimmer kept alight by a devoted few. The religion had become nothing more than a tool in the hands of despotic rulers who shared neither its supreme teachings nor elevating principles. Living in a social domain rife in corruption and favoritism, with the law and wealth in the hands of an elite, the Mus...

The Importance of Remaining Silent- Part 2

Image
People asked Hazrath Isa(Alai) for a way or deed that would enable them to go to heaven. He(Alai) replied," never ever speak". They replied that this would not be possible. So he(alai) said," speak only about good things and nothing else". An individual who remains silent has 2 advantages: 1. His faith in Allah remains alive. 2. He understands what others tell him. Prophet(sal) has said: " When a person awakes in the morning, the different parts of the body warn the body and say that think about us and be scared of Allah because we are connected with you and if you remain straight we will also remain straight, but if you deviate we will also deviate". It is true if the tongue remains straight and is used to say good things then the whole body will benefit from this not only in this world but also in the hereafter, and if the tongue deviates for e.g. if it is used to abuse, insult, backbite, lie, and to create misunderstandings amongst others then sometime...

The Importance of Remaining Silent- Part 1

Image
It is a fact that an individual who talks a lot compels others to talk. He/She not only wastes his/her time but the time of others too. Quite often such a person regrets again and again faces a lot of problems. Nabi (sal) said" The one who remains silent achieves peace" in another "To remain silent is better than praying for 60yrs. Those who like to gossip a lot, make scandels, make an issue out of nothing and those who sometimes like getting involved in unnecessary talk read the following.... There are 4 reasons to avoid gossiping: All unnecessary talk is taken into account by Kiraaman Katibeen(recording angels) therfore a person must feel ashamed and not to disturb the angels by making them write any thing unnecessary. It is not good that when an individuals account( deeds performed by him in this world) is presented before Allah it be full of unnecessary talk. Every individual will be asked to read out the account of his deeds, in front of all the creations of Allah o...
