Shahadah in Islam

   Rabbi-shrahli sadri. Wa yassirli amri. Wa-hlul ‘uqdatamin lisani. Yafqahu qawli:  My Rabb! Expand for me my breast, and make my affair easy for me, and release the knot from my tongue, so they may understand my speech. Qur’an: Surah Ta’ha 20: 25-28 Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) asked Musa (alaihi salaam- may peace be upon him) to go to Pharoah and preach about Islam. Musa (alaihi salaam), because he had a stammering problem, thought he would not be able to speak to Pharoah and his people. He thought people would not understand him, so he prayed to Allah with this du’a to cure him from his speech problem and make it easy for people to understand him. We may not have stammering problem, but many times we cannot properly express our ideas. Sometimes what we say does not make sense to others, or does not come out right. This du’a teaches us to pray to Allah to make our thoughts and speech clear so that other people may understand us.

Quickness of Learning Du'a relating to the quickening of the learning, or for the sharpness of memory are as follows: 'Rabbi zidni 'ilmann' Before reciting al Qur'an Before reciting the Qur'an al kareem, or studying an important book ; one may read: 'Bismillahi wa Subhaan Allahi wa la ilaaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil 'aliyyil 'azimi adada kulli harfinn kutiba wa yuktabu abadal 'Abidina wa Daharad Dahirina wa sallallahu ta'alaa 'alaa syidina Muhammadiw wa 'alaa aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.' Perfection in learning If one wishes not to waste a single letter, of what he has learnt ; then the pious have stated that before he starts to study or read, he should recite: 'Allahummaf tah 'alayna hikmata ka wan shur 'alayna rahmata ka ya dhal jalali wal ikrami'

Make useful to me what You taught me & teach me knowledge that will be useful to me. Allahumma inni as’aluka fahmal-nabiyeen wa hifthal mursaleen al muqarabeen. Oh Allah! I ask you for the understanding of the Prophets & the memory of the Messengers, & those nearest to You. Allahumma ijal leesenee’amiran bi thikrika wa qalbi bi khasyathika. Oh Allah! Make my tongue full of Your remembrance & my heart with consciousness of You. Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha-u’qadeer wa hasbun-allahu wa na’mal wakeel. (Oh Allah!) You do whatever You wish & You are my Availer & best of aid. Protector & the best of aid. DUA AFTER STUDYING. Allahumma inni astaodeeuka ma qara’tu waroa hafaz-yu.
