Salah and the Worst Kind of Theft

The only sad part of finding the straight path is when you lose it. There are many ways to fall, but no fall is more tragic than a fall in one's deen . Sometimes it's a sister who decided to take off her hijab and live a different type of life, other times it's a brother who was once active in the community, but got caught up with the wrong crowd. But, with each story, somehow, somewhere along the line, our brothers and sisters fell so far. Sadly, these stories are not uncommon. Sometimes we can't help but look at them and wonder: How? Why? We wonder how someone who was so straight could have gotten so far off the path. In wondering this, we often don't realize that the answer may be simpler than we think. People fall into all types of sin, but there is one sin all these people have in common. There is one common denominator for every individual who lives a life full of sin. Whether that person was once on the straight path and fell, or ...

Is it allowed in Islam to wear GOLD Anklet in foot?

Allah Subhanah has permitted the believing woman to wear gold ornaments;   and there is absolutely no harm if she wears them on her hands,   her feet,   or even on her head if she wishes to do so! However, these anklets should not emit any sound that may attract strange men. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyah vol.5 pg.127)   Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.   Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Plucking of eyebrows and shaving off hair from arms and legs..IS IT HARAAAM?

Question: I have come across various Islamic articles & write-ups that have spoken against shaving of hair on eyebrows amongst other areas of the body. I however need clarification on this does this shaving refer to TOTAL shaving? Am I allowed to reduce the amount of hair by mere shaping ? I have very bushy eyebrows that need trimming as it makes my face look crowded. Answer: Praise be to Allaah.   We will quote for you the fatwas issued by the scholars concerning the ruling on removing hair from the eyebrows and hair from the rest of the body.  Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: "If removing hair from the eyebrows is done by plucking, this is namas (plucking the eyebrows) and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the naamisah (the woman who plucks eyebrows) and the mutanammisah (the woman who has her eyebrows plucked). This is a major sin, and women are singled out in this ruling because they are the o...

What is the ruling on men wearing white gold or platinum ring?

Praise be to Allaah. Gold is in fact yellow in colour. It may be also described as red because of having some copper mixed with it in most cases. This is what is well known among people and is mentioned in books about language, metals etc.  In al-Mu’jam al-Waseet it says: Gold is a metal that is yellow in colour.  Professor Muhammad Husayn Joodi said in his book ‘Uloom al-Dhahab wa’l-Siyaaghat al-Mujawharaat (Sciences of gold and jewels): It is well known that every kind of metal that is used in making ingots, such as copper, silver, palladium, platinum, zinc etc have an obvious effect on the ingot’s colour, hardness and melting point. Gold gives a yellow colour and prevents oxidization of the ingot. Copper gives the ingot a red colour and makes it stronger and harder. " In Islam, males are prohibited from wearing any kind of gold jeweleries (that includes ring). Based on a hadith told by Ahmad, Abu Daud, Nasa'i, Ibnu Hibban and Ibnu Majah: " Rasulullah SAW t...

Alims

Alims They take their priests and their anchorites (Alims & Ulamas) to be their lords in substitute of Allah and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; Yet they were commanded to worship but one Allah: there is no god but He. Quran – 9 : 31 Allah says in the Quran, the Christians and Jews have made their Alims and Ulamas and Jesus, Allah (their Gods). When this verse was revealed - Athee ibn Hathim was a Christian who had come with a large group of Christians and had embraced Islam. When this above Verse was revealed, he came to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) and said: "Ya Rasoolullah, at no time have we worshipped our Priests and Monks (alims and Ullamas);  then why is Allah saying so ???" To this Prophet (s.a.w) said :   "Do you take your Alims words when they say a thing is halaal?" To this Hathim (r.a) said:   "Yes" – Then the Prophet (s.a.w) said :   "Do you take the words of your Priests  when th...

The Ill Effects of Sins

Assalaamu Alaikum to All It is very important for a Mumin to relate everything that happens to himself / herself or family to the will of Allaah. Nothing (good or evil) happens without HIS will. Old saying in Tamil “Not even a speck of dust or piece of thread could move without HIS permission”. There are times HE will test us with a challenge or increase an existing challenge/s. We’d accept this as an opportunity to redeem ourrselves from sins committed. One should accept the challenges or trials with patience and seek forgiveness, so that Merciful Allaah will spare us from punishment in the hereafter. May Allaah’s mercy extend to all of us. Do you hate someone?

Do you hate someone? Do you hate someone? Do you really hate someone? You haven't spoken to him for a while? You've been blaming him? You're not the only one; the Muslim Ummah today is diseased with this to the extent that almost every Muslim knows another Muslim who he hates. The Ummah is like a building with the Muslims as it's bricks, brotherhood is the cement. Without forgiveness you cannot have brotherhood. OK then, he wronged you. He deceived you. He backbited you. He lied to you. But even in these extreme situations the Qur'an and the Hadith teach us that we have to forgive others (especially those who hurt us the most) if we wish to earn the forgiveness of Allah on the day of judgement. We have all committed many sins, made many mistakes and no doubt we have wronged others, we have deceived others, we have backbited others and no doubt we have lied to others. So what makes us focus onto brothers' and sisters' err...

Times When Prayer Is Forbidden - Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan

There are five times at which performing prayer is forbidden: 1. The first time starts from the second ( the factual ) time of dawn to sunrise. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: " When the dawn breaks, no prayer is to be performed except the two rak'ahs ( units of prayer ) of the Fajr Prayer ( i.e. the supererogatory rak'ahs of the Fajr prayer.) Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, And other compilers of Hadith Therefore, when the dawn breaks, one should not perform any supererogatory pray except the two rak'ahs of the Fajr prayer. 2. The second time starts from the time of sunrise until the sun reaches the height of a spear in ones sight, above the horizon. 3. The third time starts from the time when the sun is at its height at midday until it passes over the meridian. This time is known as the time when shade stops' i.e. it does not increase nor does it decrease until it starts moving towards the west. 'Uqb...

Is oral sex forbidden in Islam?

At the outset, before stating the rulings of Fuqahaa on oral sex, it is important to mention the emphasis Shari’ah has laid down on shame and modesty. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said in Hadith: إن مما أدرك الناس من كلام النبوة ، إذا لم تستحى فافعل ما شئت "Indeed, surely people will come to know the words of prophethood. If you do not have shame, then do as you wish." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, 4/183, Dar Al-Fikr) الحياء من الإيمان والإيمان فى الجنة والبذاء من الجفاء والجفاء فى النار "Modesty is from Iman, and Iman leads you to Paradise. Shamelessness is from futile things, and futile things lead you to the fire of Hell.” (Sunan Al-Tirmidhi, 2/21, HM Saeed) In light of the abovementioned, Fuqahaa have ruled oral sex to be makruh tahreemi (an abominable act close to haraam) due to the shame and immodesty in the act and the strong possibility of najis (impure) fluids entering the mouth. Even if precaution is taken in this regard...

Women wearing perfume and makeup

Some women going out wearing perfume and makeup, and without veils. This is a problem which is widespread, and many people take this matter lightly. Allaah is the One Whose help we seek. Some women – may Allaah guide them – even dress up in their finest clothes and put on the best perfume when they go to the mosque to pray Taraaweeh or go to the Eid prayers, etc. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who puts on perfume and passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, is an adulteress.” Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 5126; al-Tirmidhi, 2783; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 2019.

Humor in Hadith

Prophet Muhammad (sas) said: "Even a smile is charity." Humor in Hadith 6/30/2008 - Humor - Article Ref: IC0806-3605 Number of comments: 4 By: Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq IslamiCity* - Humor in Hadith 6/30/2008 - Humor - Article Ref: IC0806-3605 Number of comments: 4 By: Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq IslamiCity* - Since Islam is defined as way of life the scope of Islam and life should be fully convergent. As Islam is based on human nature, it also fully takes into account that nature, in its entire dimension. As a reflection of many different types of extremities among us as Muslims, some have divorced Islam in search of their jest and fun. Others, due to their "love" for Islam, have purified Islam and their life from any humorous dimension: So, no fun or humor. The latter group is petrified by a reminder from the Prophet Muhammad , "O followers of Muhammad! By Allah, if you knew what I know, you would weep much and laugh little."
